A security alert was issued near Vancouver International Airport, one of Canada’s busiest air traffic hubs, after a reportedly hijacked aircraft landed in the area. Federal police officials provided statements to the public following the incident.
According to initial reports, the single-engine, four-seat Cessna 172 was hijacked in the Vancouver Island region. Following a tip-off that the aircraft was approaching the western airspace of Vancouver International Airport, temporary flight disruptions occurred in the area.
Suspect Surrendered Without Resistance
Police units intervened after the aircraft landed safely. Authorities stated that the suspect was taken into custody without any resistance and the situation was quickly brought under control before it could escalate.
