Turkish Airlines and Air Peace have signed an interline agreement. Details of the cooperation, which provides seamless travel between Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world with a single ticket.
Single ticket, seamless travel, and network advantages for passengers departing from Nigeria
Another significant step has been taken to strengthen connectivity networks in global aviation. Turkish Airlines and Nigeria-based Air Peace have formalised their interline cooperation under a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) that will expand travel options between Africa and the rest of the world.
Announced simultaneously in Istanbul and Lagos on 16 April 2026, the agreement offers passengers key advantages such as access to multiple destinations with a single ticket, coordinated flight schedules, and integrated baggage transfers.
Global access with a single ticket
Thanks to the new agreement, passengers travelling to Lagos with Turkish Airlines will be able to connect seamlessly to many destinations within Nigeria as well as across West and Central Africa via Air Peace’s strong domestic and regional network.
Similarly, Air Peace passengers will gain access, via Istanbul, to Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight network covering more than 130 countries. This integration is expected to significantly increase flexibility, particularly for business and leisure travel.
A solution to a chronic issue in African aviation
According to industry experts, this agreement directly addresses the long-standing connectivity challenges in African aviation. Previously, passengers were required to purchase separate tickets across different airlines and create complex travel plans due to limited interline agreements.
With the new model, operational efficiency in multi-stop journeys is expected to improve, while the passenger experience will become more streamlined.
Strategic messages from the companies
Dr. Özlem Özyön, Turkish Airlines’ Senior Vice President for International Relations and Alliances, described the partnership as an important part of the airline’s growth strategy in Africa.
Nowel Ngala, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Peace, emphasised that the agreement will strengthen Nigeria’s global role not only in aviation but also in trade and tourism.
Strengthening Istanbul’s hub role
Turkish Airlines’ operations on the Lagos route with wide-body aircraft further highlight Istanbul as a global transfer hub. Istanbul Airport, already one of the most connected hubs worldwide, continues to reinforce its strategic position through such partnerships.
Air Peace, with a fleet of more than 50 aircraft, continues to expand across Africa, the Middle East, and other regions, contributing to stronger intra-continental connectivity.
