23 Percent Increase in the Budget
According to Pentagon documents, the newly requested budget represents a 23.2 percent increase compared to the funding allocated to the program in 2026.

Developed during the Cold War era, the E-4B Nightwatch aircraft are publicly known as the “Doomsday Plane.”

Sierra Nevada Corporation Will Develop the Aircraft
It was stated that the Pentagon signed a contract with Sierra Nevada Corporation within the scope of the project.
The main development process of the program is planned to continue until the end of 2031.
Defense experts evaluate that the E-4C will be at a much more advanced level than current platforms with its advanced communication systems, EMP protection, and high durability features.
Total Cost May Exceed $10 Billion
The program is not limited only to aircraft development costs.
According to Pentagon planning:
- Approximately $3 billion is expected to be allocated for the modernization of air base infrastructures,
- while more than $5.4 billion is planned for the aircraft procurement process scheduled to begin in 2029.
With these items included, the total cost of the E-4C program is expected to exceed $10 billion.
